Pre-2005 notes to go out of currency from March 31 | 2005 ముందు ముద్రించిన వెయ్యి, ఐదు వందల నోట్లు

2005 ముందు ముద్రించిన వెయ్యి, ఐదు వందల నోట్లు సహా ఇతర కరెన్సీ నోట్లను బ్యాంకుల్లో మార్చేదుకు కేవలం పదిరోజులు మాత్రమే మిగిలాయి. వీటిని మార్చుకునేందుకు భారతీయ రిజర్వ్‌ బ్యాంక్‌ ఇచ్చిన గడువు ఈనెల 30తో అయిపోతుంది. 2005 కన్నా ముందు ముద్రించి, చెలామణిలో ఉన్ననోట్లను వెనక్కి తెప్పించేందుకు, వాటిని బ్యాంకుల్లో మార్చుకోవాలని ప్రజలకు ఆర్‌బీఐ సూచించింది.

ఈ ఏడాది జనవరి 1ని గడువుకు ఆఖరు తేదీగా నిర్ణయించినా.. ఆ తర్వాత జూన్‌ నెలాఖరు వరకు పొడిగించింది.
2005 ముందు ముద్రితమైన నోట్లను గుర్తించడటం ఎంతో సులభం. ఈ నోట్లకు వెనుకవైపు.. ముద్రిత సంవత్సరం ఉండదు. దొంగ నోట్ల చెలామణి నిరోధించేందుకు ఈ నోట్లను ఉపసంహరిస్తున్నట్లు ఆర్‌బీఐ అంటోంది. 2005కు ముందు నోట్లకు భద్రతాప్రమాణాలు తక్కువగా ఉండటమే దీనికి కారణమని.. ఆర్‌బీఐ వర్గాలంటున్నాయి.

The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue Rs.1000 denomination banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi Series without inset letter in numbering panel bearing the signature of Dr. Y.V. Reddy, Governor. The new series 2005 banknotes will be of the same size and there is no change in the design/images of the banknotes both at the obverse (front) and reverse (back). While there is no change in the colour at the obverse (front), the colour at the reverse (back) is different due to use of only offset printing.
